Why Vetiver Should Be Your Next Purchase..

With a unique woody, smoky aroma, Vetiver is known to provide a calming and grounding effect on emotions. This essential oil is used extensively in perfumes, for massage therapy and promoting restful sleep. Another great added benefit is the support of a healthy immune system. Here are some of my favourite ways to use Vetiver:

DIY Perfumes
Vetiver has a rich, exotic aroma that is used in many perfumes; think sweet, woody, caramel and a little smoky. An easy way to make a DIY perfume is to add a 5-10 drops of essential oils in a roller bottle with your favourite carrier oil (I use fractionated coconut oil for this). As Vetiver has a strong grassy roots and the woody smell it is usually best blended with a citrus or floral essential oil for perfumes.

Massage Oil
Due to Vetiver’s calming and grounding effect on emotions, it is great essential oil to use for massage therapy. Add a few drops to a carrier oil (or your unscented massage oil) depending on the quantity you are starting with. Be careful not to add too much at first as the scent can be stronger than other oils.

Relaxation & Sleep
Vetiver is a great oil to promote relaxation. One of the best ways for deep relaxation is to add a few drops of Vetiver to a warm bath. It can also be rubbed on the bottoms of your feet before bedtime to promote a restful night’s sleep.

Mood Support
As Vetiver’s has a calming, grounding effect on emotions it is a great oil to diffuse in your home, especially for behavioural issues and anxious feelings. Add a few drops to your diffuser with a few drops of Lavender to help calm emotions and lessen stress.
